Prioritize

Ok. so I really have been trying to do too many things at once.  I am still going to do this blog, but I'm dealing with a lot of medical issues as well as planning a move from Colorado to Seattle.  It's taking me a little longer than I hoped to clear things up so it looks like it might be a while before I can do a post every day.

The dress design is looking great and I finally worked out the trick, the only thing left is to pick out the right colours/fabrics and I can happily post it. I am actually trying to get a lot of designs together at once for a job I'm applying for in Seattle.  Right now that is my main priority. Once I get a little less stressed to the bone I'm going to kick some major butt on this blog!!  I'll post when I have something new or just to update.

By the way, while I've been working I have been watching the old show Sabrina the Teenage Witch on hulu...and let me tell you...she actually had a great stylist! Some of the outfits that she wore were really eyecatching. If you remember that show you should really re-watch some episodes (later seasons) and see what I mean.

Not this one, but sure was a memorable episode ;) Even Scooby and Shaggy appeared as guests.

Holiday- A closer look

Hello Everyone!!

As promised I want too give you a closer look at my x-mas and New Year's outfits:

First off we have the one I wear for more casual events

-The shirt is from BYER (LZ) CALIFORNIA.  I picked it up from my housemate who was getitng rid of some of her old clothes.  Let me tel you, having a friend to swap clothes with is great! It's a very good way to get essential without spending any money.  The clothes that are completely unwanted by both parties end up going to Good Will or to homeless shelters.

The colour is hard to really define, but I like to consider it a bright strawberry red and one of the only red's that works well with my skin tone (no matter what a sales person may say, there is no specific "IN" colour because everyone looks good in different colours).

The bow sits a little to the side giving it that nice asymmetrical appeal while the ribbed edging circles the entire neckline.  The material is extremely light and flexible, making it a good pick for summer wear as well.  Red shouldn't have a stigma of being a holiday-only colour.

-I was actually extremely lucky that this shirt matched a gorgeous skirt I had picked up from THE LIMITED a month or so before. They are actually the exact same colour! I was really shocked!  I picked up the skirt on a whim because I loved the flow of it (especially when you twirl ;) ).

The outer fabric is pleated and shear while the "slip" is the same colour, but just a shimmering polyester material.  Like the shirt, it is also very light and would be good for warmer weather as well. I can picture it with a very slimming black top, possibly tucked in due to the black lining on the top.

-Now for my party and fancy gown. I actually got this Chinese style dress as a gift, but it was purchased from an Asian store in my local mall.  The brand is called WEI YIAO (WY).  Both sides have a gorgeous slit all the way up to my thighs.  I actually tend to wear a pair of bicycle shorts underneath- just in case 0.0.  The fit is a bit tricky; it doesn't allow much room for curves in the hips. When it did fit my middle and shoulders it gets tight around the hips making it hard to sit. Now I can sit fine, but the middle is a bit too loose.

The pattern is gorgeous with dragons and peacocks in metalic.

I love the neckline as well with the embellishments coming from the side as loop-and-knot closures.

As just because it looks really cool, here's the inside:
You can tell it was used to create the metalic shimmer.

Well, that's all for tonight. I do have a crazy day tomorrow, so I don't know if I'll have a post for you, but the next one will be my completed dress design.  It's my first time sharing a clothing design with other people, so I'm very nervous how it will turn out.  It will also have a little trick to it that is really taking some extra thought.

See you next time!

Holiday Video

So I'm using Vimeo to host my videos because the blogger player wont upload the file. I hope you can watch.  There actually was more of an introduction to this video, but the lighting was horrible so i cut it.

Basically the first part was just a little about myself, but I was really embarrassed anyway. Actually I was through the whole thing ;).  Please go easy on me as this is my first video.

My next post will be my outfits in more detail with closer pictures, so look forward to it. The dress I'm working on is a bit tougher than I thought, but I"m not gonna give up!!

Video trouble

Ok.......so there will be no videos because my seven yeas of experience with Final cut has gone down the drain with their new version. They have changed everything...EVERYTHING. I am completely irritated at the program.  Not only is everything changed, but they wont even let me do the same exports or effects. They even tried to get me to buy another program just to compress the video in order to export it. SEVEN YEARS of video editing experience and now I have to completely relearn the program!!

Anyway, instead of the video I will show you my outfits through photos. I am so sorry for the delay and issues.  I hope you will look forward to this week's design which will be a party dress in which I want the coat to be attached as part of it.  I'm also looking at having the colour be a little deeper than a strawberry with a gorgeous sweetheart cut.

I sincerely apologize for the issues with the start of this blog, but I hope you'll stick with me.

Week 1: Holiday

Hello everyone,

I'm sorry this is coming out a bit late. I intended to begin today, but several things happened so my Introduction video wont be out until tomorrow. How I plan to run my blog is that every week I'll have a new topic. I'll share my inspirations, examples from my closet and then some of my own designs. I really look forward to meeting you all and please look forward to my video; which should be up tomorrow!
